Pin Down Girl

That was the title of a 1951 big screen movie with a gangster plot as background, but which turned out to be more of an women pro-wrestling feature in the end. Starred by the real-life pro-wrestlers Peaches Peage, Clara Mortensen and Rita Martinez, it had lots of ring scenes as you can notice from the official trailer below. "Racket Girls" was the movie alias name.

The women fighting subject appears on the USA movie main street from time to time. I can count "Kansas City Bomber" (1972), the roller-derby movie with Raquel Welch, and "All The Marbles" (1981), with Peter Falk, Vicki Frederick and Laurene Landon, already commented here. By far, the most succesful was "Million Dollar Baby" (2004), with Clint Eastwood and Hillary Swank, a boxing feature very well played.

  1. The girls who took part in many of these old black and white movies really must have suffered for their art. These films come from an era when wrestling be it male or female was real. What passes for pro wrestling now is just a branch of show biz,but in those days the fights were for real and for an actress to try and act out a scene must have often been quite painful.
