Although they have not vanished completely, the roller derby contact sport has never reached again its 60´s, 70´s popularity. Women have had a proeminent role in the sport along the time. There was even a major feature film, Kansas City Bomber (1972), with the sexy star of the moment, Raquel Welch, in the main role. A real beauty, you might remember her fine looks for a few seconds in the roller sequences below. Curiously, the stunt work was not top notch: they (he or she?) were so different of Raquel features that film´s production had to use vast wigs to hide the stunt faces.
The one below is a more recent roller derby event: you might have noticed it due to the enhanced chest size of participants.
