The Fighting Cholitas

Yesterday I published a text and video about awful wrestlers but stunning girls. Today is the turn of good wrestlers (pro-style) but... not so stunning girls. They are the cholitas, indigenous peasant women from Bolivia, known by their multi layered skirts. They wrestle on week-ends in makeshift arenas for full crowded audiences in the capital and small villages. Their wrestling style is a mix of American and Mexican professional and they can dive from the top ring rope! as you can see in the clip.

They have been the subject of a well received documentary, "The Fighting Cholitas" (2006), where their daily life was faithfully portrayed according to the reviews.
