The Fighting Machine

MMA, BJJ and similar styles are not the main fighting styles here in the Blog just because they could be... boring, let us say. However, I had to pay a tribute to an outstanding fighter, Cris Cyborg, a Brazilian who has taken the cages, rings and mats as an unstoppable storm. Not a particular beauty, she has dominated her adversaries by sheer power - first part of the video, and also technique - second part on a BJJ mat. Really impressive.

More about her in the personal site.

  1. I wrestle, so I guess I'm not a total whimp, but I do not get any enjoyment out of seeing someone pound away on their oppopnent laying helpless on the mat. I really find MMA stuff to be brutual and I don't think it speaks well of it's fans.

  2. You're not the only one that feels that way, Anon 3:05. I agree with everything you've said.

I also feel that MMA can be BORING. To me, marketing and hype are driving the sport rather than the skills and guts that birthed MMA.

The fighters are being billed as having skills in multiple martial arts. But it seems like most fights break down into two fighters rolling around on the ground and flailing wildly.

I can see two drunks doing that any weekend in thousands of bars.
