Thirty Years Ago

I have always longed for the right moment to pay homage to a feature movie that thirty years ago made a lasting impression on me. It was "All the Marbles" (1981) (a.k.a. "California Dolls") with two big Hollywood names: Robert Aldrich in the direction and the charming Peter Falk as the main character, a female pro-wrestling manager and agent.

At that time, I lived in a country with rare opportunities to get images of women fighting: so, I remember to have watched the movie at least four times in order to impress my memory with the vision of the sexy girls Vicky Frederick and Laurene London with skimpy (for that time) swimsuits.

A typical road movie with underdogs trying to figure out a way to survive in the entertainment business, it surprisingly dedicated about one third of its total length (about 115 minutes) to women pro-wrestling scenes. Which were standard fare but deserving attention. You may agree (or not) watching all fighting material in the movie - including the mud wrestling with the short view of the stars boobies, in the five video parts below.

Three professional wrestling holds as only Japanese wrestlers are able to accomplish: a vertical surfboard, a stretch muffler and a Nakano special (or Angelito).

Updates & Miscellanea

Theater One and Two are sporting new videos on the main screens. I am particularly fond of the four initial ones on Theater Two which show two very good competitive fights (and sexy...) very likely held at one WWC several years ago.

Let me remind you those full combat videos are prone to vanish from YouTube after sometime on display. Usually, from the about 150 options in each Theater (only the first 50 or something are visible due to a software bug somewhere), a dozen of them got expelled for any reason, mostly for either copyrights or nudity (or both).

Changing of subject, I guess most of you already have noticed that all comments from readers are moderated; they are published as soon as I get time to make a review; 99,9% are posted as an exact copy of the original and a very few are discarded because I judge them inappropriate.

Could Be Better

The NWWL - National Women Wrestling League, is (was?) a sort of offspring of Mildred Burke as to nude pro-wrestling. They have been an welcome newcomer because of its production quality and beautiful women (including Carmen Electra).

Unfortunately, the producers have preferred to follow the standard US pro-wrestling guidelines: lots of non-fighting action, exotic characters, rock & roll, audience participation and... a few seconds of the good old holds and pins. Watch what I could extract from some 15 minutes of video from NWWL extra material (after its first long video): they are not even erotic!

The staring down an young Raven gives at Jacqueline will thrill the fans; but the purpose of showing this video is allowing Blog readers to watch our fighting star at the top of her beauty. The first moment appears in Academy AX84 with my dear Amy Lewinski bending her naked adversary (who is she?) just short of a torture and using the victim´s arm to leverage the hold. Second moment is from Festelle 076 (please, see coments for a correct information) when the two girls get a mutual knot but just one will win the fall.

Years ago, Sharon Stone demonstrated in "Recall" what she could do to get the upper hand in a fight; earlier yet, Brigitte Bardot did a great throw over the shoulder in a movie unknown to me (it was a stunt, of course, but let us believe in the screen fantasy...).

Fighting Star (17): The Hardworker

If I had decided to extract ten seconds of each movie Mutiny participated in her career, the sample below would have hours of fighting. She is one of my favorites because of the cheerful way she engages in the sport and, of course, also because she has one of the most desirable bodies of the trade (alas, I think have no chance due to her sexual orientation...).

Canadian, from the province of Quebec, she still is in her twenties, having a prospective long career. Even young, she has already fought for AFWrestling, APL, Back Alley Gym, Female Wrestling Zone, Fighting Style, Wrestling Honey, FemWin, SleeperKid, Southern Belles - just the ones I could identify, besides her company, Mutiny Wrestling. As to styles and outfits, she prefers... all of them: pro-wrestling with swimsuits, erotic with bare skin, semi-competitive with one inch thongs, competitive in bikinis and the list goes on. Blonde in most fights, brunette in some, I have preferred to pay attention to other regions of that gorgeous body...

As to the wrestling capabilities, I do not think she is in the same league as others stars like Xana, Nadege: watch her against these two and also Robin and Zsuzsa below.

This comics by RAM, a now retired (?) veteran of female fighting drawings, has an extraordinary visual style, with a so dense web of lines that is difficult to apprehend the limits between one woman to the other.

In the countless variations of female fighting styles, that was a surprise to me: from Lusa Entertainment, two girls with a blindfold try to get a hold on the other and position herself to an advantage.

A Traditional Business Is Still Alive

Selling pictures of sexual related subjects is as old as humanity. With the high-speed Web one would think the pictures would be fully replaced by movies but that is not the case. Producers like Maidens of Mayhem are still in business and they provide interesting sequences like the one below.

The video clip is awful as to the image quality but it depicts a rare version of a ceiling hold - in Japan pro-wrestling, of course. The video was in slow-motion in the original.

They Are Really Good

It took me several years to realize that ECNWC is part of the short list in the best catfights category; I would say they are a kind of contemporary Crystal Films. In the sample below, we have sequences of Vira vs Monica, Heidi vs Sasha, Savannah vs Tia, Vira vs Melody and Heidi vs Rachel. It is all the same style: run-of-the-mill women, in sexy lingerie, going all the way to win.

The usual once in a while prison fights is here with three samples with nudies: from "Vendetta", "Jail House Eros" and "Escape from Hell".

Out of ordinary wrestling holds for you: a sort of arm scissoring using the feet as a lever, a toe and arm hold with spine bending and a surfboard with the legs bended outward. Except for the last segment - from Wrestling Lounge, I do not know the source of these fights.

That is the title of a short movie produced by Kung Fu Femmes, a company specialized in promotional media with female fights as the main subject. Most of its output uses some kind of weapons - which is off-scope of this Blog, but "Angering the Gods" has hand to hand combats.
